Mobile Apps:

FOOD NUTRIENT TRACKER

Chronometer

This is app is a food diary that helps you track daily nutrient intakes like: protein, fat, sugar, macro/micro-nutrients.

Available on:  IOS and Android

Cost:  Low

Pros:   Easy to use, great way to visually see what you are eating and if you are lacking protein, micronutrients etc. showing current recommended daily allowances (RDA’s).  You can adjust daily targets for adapting your diet.

Cons:  Initial setup can be time consuming. There maybe a lot of data entry for foods or meals not already entered. This will vary with your eating habits but can be a bit frustrating in the beginning.  It is easy for people to forget that the represented nutrient content is based off an average of collected data and not actual values (impossible unless in the lab).

Conclusion:  If you can get past setup time be consistent with logging both foods and symptoms as they arise you may benefit from this app.  Keep in mind that RDA’s are, so don’t get stressed in not always hitting or achieving these numbers.  Also, as the nutrient data is based off of averages it is always better to be aware of how you are feeling.

This app pairs well with mySymptoms tracker.
